we had a very serene easter weekend with only a couple of trips to the hospital with grammie. we've not had the guts to take tomas to church yet (well anywhere for that matter)
1-he had not received shots yet and we see more & more how dirty people are and are surprised with the amount that don't even wash their hands after using the potty , much less after sneezing or coughing
2-tomas, although improving weekly, cannot go 30-40 minutes without crying his little lungs out - he goes from zero to sixty in a blink
and the quiet weekend lead to an eventful monday - his 2 month exam and shots
we thought this was a special day and selected his attire for the occasion, after all he's a big boy of 2 months now.
he always does pretty good while being examined because he likes the attention and yesterday was no different. when the exams drag on a little he gets antsy (as in the photo with papa above, this was right before receiving shots cause we'd already been there a while)
fun 2 month tomas facts:
-height 24 3/4" (97 percentile - his papa says this is a first for a whitener, maybe that's the escontrias in him)
-weight 12.15 lbs (75 percentile)
-head circumference 39.5" (50 percentile)
seeing her little baby bright red, screaming and crying was a little more than mama could take so while he was grabbing her fingers and she was singing in his ear tears were running down her face too. who knows where these tears of hers came from cause she sees him cry every single day...
!bienvenidos!

8 weeks
wow-wee time is going by so fast and yet we're still working on the breast feeding. no worries about tomas, he's eating plenty and just killing mama in the process so we had another appointment at the lactation center to work on our latching - keep your fingers crossed! after that we paid a visit to grammie & auntie yaya, tomas even had big boy pants on and they fit.

frogs win
it was the annual horned frogs (#7) vs. aggies (#6) baseball game today (kevonica has made this event an official date night when they play in fort worth). the game was played in college station this year, so tomas will get to go next year! good thing the horned frogs won cause baby t was sporting his tcu gear all day in anticipation of the game
mama thought this was okay since
a)she dressed him for the day
b)he has been in a&m stuff already and no tcu
foot note: he was happy as a little clam to finally get to wear some tcu purple - check out the sweet smile

wakey-wakey breakfast is ready
trying to buy a little more time before the 5:30 feeding, tomas was brought to our bed and we then had to wake him up one step at a time after we got the 4-legged babies taken care of
step 1-insert paci so he doesn't cry bloody murder
step 2-get him to start opening his eyes and think about waking up
step 3-put on his magic mittens so he doesn't scratch mama to tears
step 4-take him back to his room to his glider to finally get some grub
keep in mind this seldom happens (about 4 times), usually he is screaming at the top of his lungs for some grub from mama (at least his lungs are healthy)

super baby
tomas is so big & strong he breaks out of the tightest of swaddles while sleeping. even though he fights while being swaddled, fights to get out of the swaddle, and is still fighting after he is out - he can't sleep without being swaddled by a blanket or a person.
he also had an official weigh in today - drum roll please - mr.t is already at 12 lbs 4 oz and is not even 2 months yet (7 weeks today to be exact). because he is a larger baby we tend to expect him to not behave like a newborn and have to remind ourselves that he's still an itsy-bitsy, teenie-weenie, newborn that cries quite a bit!

baby girl, tomas & bluebonnets
there is a blanket of bluebonnets covering one side of the park we frequent we just had to get photos while out on one of our walks.
2 feet tall
we were curious to see just how much mr.t had grown - he's 3" taller since when he was born
fun fact: we read somewhere that by age 2 humans are half their adult height

day sleep
two separate days documented above, but this is an every day struggle. for some reason he wont sleep during the day (as tired as he is) unless i'm holding him and at night he has no problem in his crib - argh.
(i didn't think i looked as worn down and tired as i do - yikes)

whoop - national champs
in honor of the women's national title the aggie basketball team just won. i (veronica) kept telling the dfw aggies to get on the women's wagon all season cause they were going places - triple whoop!
(the second photo shows tomas is finally putting some meat on his bones - i know that when you hear a newborns birth weight is 9 lbs 2 ounces you think what a chubby baby but he really was lean all over, well except for those chubby cheeks)
growing like a weed at 6 weeks - 4/6
who would have thought there are any breastfeeding difficulties going on here...tomas is growing at record pace it seems like. we enjoyed (or at least at the start photo 1, crying finish photo 2) our tummy time to start our 6th week celebration! most activities are in his room (such as above) because his 4-legged siblings don't really like to go in there much, we think it is all the crying they try and stay away from.
however, they get lonely at times. baby girl is always trying to get any attention she can from any person she can and jet usually meows a bit but the other day he snuggled right by my face (and he never does this) so even he's feeling a bit neglected. we keep telling them soon enough tomas will be big enough to play with them and they'll be getting more attention (tail pulling) than they'll want.
mama had her 6 week post delivery doctor appointment today too and all is good - free and clear to start really working out. 11 lbs left to get to pre-pregnancy weight but there were about 10 lbs too many at that time so we're at 21 lbs of loss to go. and it was the funniest thing when they asked if i wanted to start any birth control, as if having a crying newborn and about 6 hours of sleep every 24 hours wasn't birth control enough...

3 babies
it was so difficult trying to get the three of them in one shot and it's a bad photo at that, we need quite a bit of practiece before we take our first official family portrait
saturday morning
the first photo is after the 2:30 am feeding - ate so much tomas got the drunkin baby look about him and the following two are after the 6:00 am feeding waking up papa
visit to grammie's
we went for a short visit to grammie's to make sure she's feeling okay and to put a little pep-in-her-step but instead tomas just fell asleep after his mama fed him.
first real bath
there have been plenty of sponge baths but tomas had his first "soak in the tub" bath and wasn't sure what to make of the situation. he better get used to bathing (in a tub or shower) cause papa & mama are sticklers about cleanliness
jet & a ladder
if we were the superstitious kind we'd be really worried - a black cat under a ladder...
it is just part of the crazy here at casa carrollton with the three babies
