aggieland visit

our little kj has made quite a many trips - since conception in may in san antonio (lucy & darnell's wedding) we have traveled to chicago (michelle & mark's wedding); palm desert, california; fort meyers, florida; las vegas (christine & danny's wedding); and made our way to college station, texas for the  texas a&m vs. nebraska game on 11/20 and what a perfect game to attend - the aggies won a close one in a defense packed 9-6 victory!  we made plans for this game with the gang back in early april even before we knew we'd have a tag-along...(so sad that none of my aggie gear fit)

mama carmen prayers

happy thanksgiving to you all - i thought what better day to ask for your continued support than a day many of us use to reflect upon and realize all the wonderful we are blessed with!

we recently found out that mama carmen's multiple myeloma is quite persistent and strong, so we have started a new chemo treatment.  i know she needs all the prayers and happy wishes you can provide.  we are on the 2nd week of treatment and have at least 14 more to go - we will keep you posted...

peace to each of you.

Week 24- the fun roller coaster continues

So Vron heard a story on NPR on the rise of infant mortality due to whooping cough. She has since been on a mission to make sure the entire family is up to date on all their vaccinations, including pertussis, aka whooping cough. I tried to reason with her explaining Aggies love to whoop (she found very little humor in the previous joke).

The family is doing well and everything is going splendidly. We did have a few concerning episodes this past month but think we're back on track since mama has tried to lighten her load a bit and is forcing herself to rest more.  Ronnie's belly is getting bigger everyday and the excitement continues to build. We still have not had any confirmation on the gender of the baby, so for now it remains androgynous. We see our regular doc again in 2 weeks so hopefully we can coax her for more info. We did find out that the specialist filled out the required forms with baby KJ as a boy. Again, when we were there he did not sound very confident with that prognostication so nobody get too excited. We are still mulling over names but seem to be stumped. We would like a name that can be translated into both English and Spanish and that is also a saint (that should be real easy...) Some of our early choices are- Olivia, Sophia, Valentina, Benjamin, & Mateo. Wait...  Vron just nixed Benjamin. I guess I cannot honor the great Mr. Bratt now. Please cast your vote for which ones you like at:

(not an actual link)

Have a great weekend and remember to cheer on the Ags and the Froggies. Thanks.

Week 20. Half way there, maybe

The doc says little KJ is being camera shy. After assuring us that baby is a girl, he quickly changed his mind and said that KJ is a boy. He then said that there is an umbilical cord and a toe is in the way, so for now, no gender news. KJ is now as long as a banana and weighs a whopping 13 oz. (KJ is a little ahead of schedule as he/she is only suppossed to weigh 8.5 oz) It keeps growing and growing and growing...

Week 15- Hurry up second trimester!

8/29/2010 The little thing is now 4 inches long from top to rump and weighs in at 2.5 ounces (tubby needs to go on a baby diet). Baby still cannot see because its eyelids are fused shut but it can sense light. The baby rolls away when light penetrating Vron's stomach (belly light) is bright. Belly light can really put a damper on little KJ's night life.

This is actually the second week of second trimester. It seems as though little KJ is holding onto some of those first trimester tendencies and still enjoys making mama sick. Things are getting better but dad cannot put up with much more of this (It would be nice to have red meat again!).

KJ also started school this week while hitching a ride with Veronica. Veronica began her grad school career at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is getting her masters in landscape architecture while at the same time growing a human being inside of her. She never could commit to only one project.

2nd trimester

8/23/2010- We officially began the 2nd trimester today; although Veronica still has not experienced the benefits. The trifecta of pain still abounds- nausea, heart burn, and fatigue.

The grandmothers-to-be, started an arms race of sorts by buying little KJ new collegiate gear. Carmen clearly set a new precedent in excellence by getting some amazing aggie gear- onesie, hat, and the cutest A&M booties any Texan has ever seen! Linda bought some TCU stuff.

With the constant barrage of A&M and TCU propaganda the little critter will probably pick some east coast liberal arts school.

8/16/2010 So Ronnie just left the doctor's office and the preliminary test results all came back normal. Here is pic of KJ, it appears he/she is sucking his/her thumb. Veronica is certain that comes from Kevin's side of the family.

End of Week 10

7/31/2010- So it offically feels like it's week 100... Things seem to be progressing quite slowly. We had our third doctor's appointment and we were able to hear the little critter's hearbeat. It was racing along at what seemed like break neck speed and depending on which person you speak with, the fast heart beat means it's going to be either a boy or a girl. We will not be able to find out the sex until week 20, so everybody has to wait until October. Place your bets now

Little KJ (kevonica jr) is about the size of a kumquat. He/ she weighs less than a quarter of an ounce. (Length: a little over 1 inch, head to bottom.) Right now KJ has his daddy's height, but let's hope he/she starts taking after Vron very soon.

That's about it for now. Mama bear is on a constant nausea red alert, she can smell things miles away, and usually feels like hibernating. Other than that the family is doing well. The second trimester begins in August so now everyone can feel free to start spreading the word. No one's told yet right????

See everyone next week or maybe a few weeks down the road

Week 7, kind of like week 6

7/6/2010- No photos this time but the little critter is about the size of a blueberry, so just imagine that. Yikes. Mama Vron has been feeling a little run down, so pretty much, it's business as usual.

The entire clan is looking forward to a little rest and relaxing next week. Kevonica will be in Palm Springs from the 12th through the 17th! Who doesn't love the desert in the middle of summer???? It's going to be so hot, Veronica is planning on packing only 2 sweaters!

Well, we go to the doctor again the last week of July. This entire process has been made so much easier by me, uh I mean Kevin. We'll talk to everyone next week

6 weeks 2 days down only 33 weeks 5 days to go

6/30/2010 we had our second appointment today and all is right on schedule.  baby is the size of a lentil but even so small there was a clear heartbeat of 120 - how amazing!  as with all miracles there is always a journey, so lets just say that kevin & veronica crossed new barriers in their relationship while on the fact finding mission at the doctor's office today.

we were given an arrival date of 2/21, she actually said between 2/20-2/22 but we all know these sort of thigs are unpredictable.  however, this does mean that the annual gomez floor covering utah/vegas 'work' trip is not in the cards for kevonica this year.
happy independence day to everyone - what a most special country we call home!  see y'all here again next week.

welcome to our site!

6/21/2010- we've got familia near and far of which we want to keep current on all the kevonica 2.0 progress we setup our own Project-Little-Fish site and are eager to start using it. please bookmark our site and check back soon for our first blog entry - we hope to have a weekly post for you...corndog kevin & veronica

ps. we know everyone is excited with the news but we still want to keep this on the down-low until things are just a bit further along - gracias
