cereal for all

today tomas got into papa's cereal and decided to sprinkle some around the den but no need to worry, he called in the reinforcement crew for clean-up assistance

day at the park

while most of the whitener family was still in town sunday after the party, we walked to the park and got to enjoy the dry weather

and then they got to see how messy mr.t can get with his favorite food (black beans)

tomas' b-day party

thanks to all who celebrated such a beautiful event with us!

this was after tomas had a bath and was ready for his last feeding and nighty-nite, actually we were all ready for some sleep

1 year exam

what a big boy tomas is now-he even walked himself to the car to go to the doctor

what a great exam we had! we were told that tomas is thriving and also very strong (hard to keep still and hold down while getting shots). he is long and lean-32" tall (90th percentile), 21 lbs (40th percentile), his little peanut head is (25th Percentile) and has 9 teeth now.

and even after the three shots he got, once we were home he was back to his regular shenanigans-we have so much fun together

woo-hoo 1 year on thursday, 2/23

so after his morning milk feeding, he got to have some of mama's hot choxie w/whipped cream

then he went for a push-ride around the casa, he is very diligent about using his turn signals

after his morning nap it was brunch, so much selection

and a birthday din-din at oddfellows in bishop arts district.  he even got his first smore while walking around the district, when he passed in front of tillman's roadhouse-they thought he was so cute and such a special day he deserved a treat, well mama got to have the treat and it was delicious (hey, i worked long and hard a year ago too)

love/hate

baby girl and tomas have a love/hate thing going on right now. she's afraid of him cause she sees how he pulls on jetsy the cat but she wont leave his side when he's throwing food all over the place. he likes to taunt her from inside and acts like nothing when mama tells him to be nice to her. we know they will soon be the best of friends and true allies against papa & mama's rules.

crazy last month...

we (mama) took a forced break from the blog to nurse the family and prepare for tomas' 1 year celebration week.

papa first got sick with an upper respiratory and single ear infection. a few days later tomas had lots of congestion so we phoned the pediatrician to ask what decongestants he could take and they said since it was making it difficult for him to sleep and eat we should take him in the next day...(photo was taken after scheduling the appointment)

poor little tomas also had the upper respiratory infection but both ears were also severely infected and he never really complained. he did not have a fever yet (even surprised the doctor), which is why we hadn't taken him in (we didn't want to be 'those' first time parents). this was him when we got home from the exam and after he took his first dose of medications-and this is a kid who can't sit still for more than 10 seconds unless he's feeding or asleep in his crib-he was really sick. we almost made it a whole year without him getting sick at all.

he became quite the cuddle bunny for the next couple of days. we ended up with three medications for 10 days. one was once a day, one was three times a day, and one was four times a day-like mama carmen would, mama vron made sure tomas got each and every prescribed does on time. tomas is actually super at taking his vitamins and such but grew tired of all the medicines after a while.

then mama developed a sinus infection from all the mess going around. so we had all the carpet, rugs and ducts cleaned to get all the yuck outta the house.  happy to report we are all healthy again!
