3 months

3 months already - what a blessing tomas is!  there were crazy storms here today, so he slept most of the day (he actually likes the rain, hail and thunder for sleeping)

nighty-nite

not such a good day for tomas, well for the whole family on saturday - if tomas has a crabby day the whole house feels it.  we finally got him to sleep and then had to wake him up to eat one more time before turning in for the night because mama was gonna explode.  but all was swell, as he ate and feel right back to sleep the night away.  (he has gotten very lax with his feeties while eating lately)

1st trip to fort worth

the unt hsc facilities crew celebrated fridays with a group lunch outing while mama was working there, and this past friday 5/20 was the first with tomas out of mama's tummy at almost 3 months.  the photo above was taken the friday 2/18 prior to baby kj's (kevonica jr, is what tomas was previously called since we didn't know if he was a boy or girl) birth that following wednesday 2/23 - even papa made the trip for the occasion.  wow-wee mama was huge - isn't black supposed to be slimming???

as most of you know, grammie was in the hospital the last week and a half and we were fortunate enough to get a few shots of the two of them when she was feeling up-to photos.

(the first one was of tomas sporting his first pair of ray bans, well technicly they are papa's but maybe one day he will pass them down; and the last one is the day she was let out)

long day

what a most busy day for tomas last saturday (5/14). after his second feeding of the morning, into the bath he went, followed by a short workout while his parents got ready. as they were getting ready to leave he fell asleep, so he slept for about 2 hours, ate again and off we went to visit grammie in the hospital for a few hours. then on the way home we made a stop at micah & lesley's casa for the finest of cookouts.  he was so pooped-out by the end of it all that we had to wake him up to eat the last meal of the day.

papa spends most of the time he spends with tomas trying to put him to sleep - trying to put tomas to sleep during the light hours (we used to love the longer days but now...) consists of either feeding him and cuddling with him after he finishes in the same position he finished or walking for at least an hour so he can sleep at most 40 minutes, and since papa can't feed him he walks and sings to him for long stretches of time.

this was about 10 or so days prior to the below shots, his hair was a bit shorter then

as you can see, papa has a lot more laps and tunes to get tomas to sleep.  mr. t doesn't like to sleep because we think he feels he's gonna miss something and fights the sleepiness so as soon as 3 yawns are spotted from him we begin the nap time process.

after his bath tomas visited the guest bedroom for a change of scenery (he's only been in there one other time a few days after he was born when mama wanted to give papa some extra rest) and once he got tired over there it was back to papa & mama's room for some boppy time where his affinity for starbucks is already starting. papa was kind enough to get mama bear a hot choxie that morning and tomas discovered a new band for his arm & mouth.  he's quite the little drooler too.

papa got tomas to smile last month (you can tell he's a bit smaller) so even though delayed, it was too cute not to post

thanks to john and katie for having us over for a bbq over the weekend - we got yaya to take a photo of the three of us and tomas got to meet tio ernesto (trey)

g diaper growth progress

tomas has moved up in the g diaper size world this week.  he started off wearing the xsmall (white) but only fit in those for two weeks, to the small (blue pair), is now on the medium (grey) hopefully for a while, and will eventually be in the large (purple).  we love these!

tomas got an extra long bath in honor of mother's day and he didn't even pee in the bath water

tomas was being ever so helpful by taking his pants off for mama by being the squirmy-wormy he is.  he even threw them on the ground for her, so she could get some extra exercise by picking them up - he is so thoughtful just like his papa

papa was needing some assistance from tomas since his fingers are smaller - yuuucky!  at least they are spending quality time together...

1st car trip and all that comes with it

we made the long car trip from dallas to el paso to attend grandma's services and so glad we did.

the only way we all survived was splitting the drive in two trips, so this is tomas outside of the hotel in odessa we made a stop on the way to el paso and another on the return to dfw

you all know how much trouble tomas has sleeping on his own during the day, while in el paso we did get him to take a couple of naps in his pack-n-play but only with his boppy - hope this works at home too

our baby girl was so sad when we were leaving and i think she continued to miss us - her yaya sent this to us while staying the night with her and jet

even though tomas' first mass service was a funeral it is actually a special event. as sad as funerals are and how difficult it is knowing that you will never physically see this person again - there is also a peaceful quality about them, about the continuing of life in a new place, somewhere they will be watching over us for all of eternity.

this is a first photo of the three of us since tomas was in mama's tummy - we need to start taking more of these.

grandma prayer request

our (aunt) grandma passed away last week (wednesday 4/27/2011) and we ask that you pray for her soul and for all her close family and friends that will miss having her here on earth.
